First human implant of the BNM
August 19, 2018
No complications. Blood pressure and heart frequency are in the normal range and the patient feels fine.
Gastrografin (radiopaque contrast medium) reveals a marked stomach peristaltic activity.
The contraction ring is systematically centered on the BNM area and the smooth muscle reacts clearly and constantly.

After more than 3 months, no dislocation of the implanted BNM is reported.
In the pictures below, the x-Rays transit shows strong peristaltic activity. Among three progressive peristaltic rings, the first one is still clearly starting from the BNM.
The proximal and distal sphincters react strongly to the BNM, indicating that it
neutralizes both gastro-esophageal and gastro-duodenal reflux.
The BNM’s generated peristaltic contractual ring is evidence of a pace-maker effect of the device on the stomach.
On the other hand, the systemic neuromodulation effect is revealed by the heart rate variability (HRV) measurement and study.
